TR6 Heater box

Hoping for some guidance here. I removed the heater box because the fan was no longer running and will take the opportunity to replace the heater core while it's out. I put the assembly on the bench and applied power to the leads but as expected, the motor still wasn't running. I can see that the fan spins freely however (but assuming the motor is still shot). Short of a gently used motor, are there still sources for new ones? Of course, I'm nervous about a scenario where I need to remove the fan too.

Until the Knowledgeable Ones add their suggestions, you might take the unit to a local electric motor rebuilding shop. They do starters, generators, alternators, electric motors of all sizes - usually by replacing the internal windings. One possibility:

Rimmer had one, but they may have some suggestions if you contact them.

Thanks Nutmeg. By coincidence, I'm just outside of Dayton, OH! I will try Rimmer Bros. first. Maybe they'll have a fan wheel too - assuming I won't get that off the old motor...

Have you considered fitting a modern replacement fan. The mounting holes will not be the same, but is very doable.

I used a Spal 5 1/4" fan that I had, but had to make a back plate for it as it was a little small in diameter. I think 5 1/2" is a better fit.....[the Spal bolt patterns do not match anyway]
Suggest you search other sites for confirmation of the ideal size.

Well, I lucked out. Once I opened the heater box, I could see that my problem was that the earth ground wire spade connector had been pulled off of the motor body. Whew! I think I'll buy a lottery ticket today
If anyone's curious, the motor draws approximately 2 amps at low speed and 3 amps at high speed.
