Tonight I found time to work on stripping the bugeye shell. The DPO had fitted later model seats and bolted them to the floor. I had also noticed that on the drivers side, he had cut sheet metal to fit over the inner sill and fitted it with sheet metal screws. I assumed it was to cover rust holes.
The seats were a bear to get out as the DPO had also put in really deep red, shag carpet! lol I'm sure it looked cool back in the day, but all that's left is a rotten mess. I fought through the old messy, shag and finally managed to get out the driver side seat. The old shag, help rust out the floor but I knew that. But with the seat gone I was able to get off that sheet metal covering the inner sill. Much to my suprise it was solid! I'm not sure why the DPO did that. But good news. Also the area around the spring socket also seems pretty solid. But bottom line, I'll be pleased if I only have to replace the outer and not inner rockers. Good.
