I really wish that it could go to the Healey Museum in The Netherlands, but I suspect that the high bid will be a budget-buster. It is, of course, way over the top with mega-bling, but understood in the context of its time and purpose, it is a very interesting historical example.
Of course, Bruce and Inan Phillips of Healey Surgeons restored it way back when - many years ago now - and I'm not sure that they have overcome the sticker shock of the price of gold plating even by now. I hope that no one gets aggressive with the Brasso on that stuff - that would be a very expensive mistake.
I remember when it was on display at Healey Surgeons, Bruce and Inan had one of those plastic, fake, half-melted ice cream bars that they would place on the mink insert of one of the seats. You couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of it. However, Inan was not chuckling when a certain Texan enthusiast (who must remain nameless... let's just call him "Scotty") got naked and sat on the mink seats to see what it felt like. The car was on display inside a host hotel of a Conclave at the time. Inan was not amused...
