glove box key

I have only one glove box/boot key. I would like at least one spare but have not been able to find a source.

Anybody know where I can get one or two?

When I ordered mine from Pete, it took a while to get through to him via email, but we did link up and got another key for my locks. His service was awesome. If in a hurry, I agree that a phone call may go more quickly.

Hi DNK, the key is the same for the cubby and the boot. We do lock it when we stop somewhere and leave the car with some valuables or my insulin in there. Keeps honest people honest.

Hi Tomster, This is the key I have.
I did hear from Pete today and he is going to be gone for a few days so I will check with him when he gets back. However, he charges $25 each plus shipping which seems a little much. If I could just find some blanks I could have them cut for a buck or two apiece.

Never thought of calling a local key shop. I just got off the phone with a key shop that has been around for many years. Being in the UW campus area I thought they might at least know what I need. I was told to stop in with the car and that they probably have blanks on hand. So next week I am going to try that before anything else.

I see Moss has ignition keys and door/trunk/glove box key/lock sets on sale. I do not want to change the lock sets. Funny thing is that I did not even think of the door locks. I do not even know if they work. And don't care.

It seems that I tend to overlook the simple solutions. Being a large university town with a good LBC history there are more resources here than I think. There is even a LBC part warehouse only three miles from my door and my first reaction is to check on-line first. Have to change that thinking.

My local mom and pop hardware store in the neighborhood did not have the proper blanks. I am sure there some in each city who would. Good luck and let us know when you have finally succeeded.

FWIW, I was assured by a local locksmith that he had the blanks. When I got there, it was "Oops, sorry". So I handed him the blanks I got on eBay and he cut them for me. Refused to give me a discount for having my own blanks though /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I will check with the shop here the first day we get a break in the rain and let you know what I find out. This locksmith shop was around during the days when Triumphs were roaming the area.
A side thought. I have an old kick press, that is a manual stamping press. It is in working condition and complete with a Danly shoe. I have been kind of looking for possible projects to run on it. The only requirement is that whatever I would run would have to be in numbers to make it worthwhile.

Drove over to Bill's key shop less than an hour ago and am now home with 3 new glove box keys. Would have been sooner but they had to look my car over first.

I talked to Duke. He said that while the heads are not the same they have blanks on hand and he checked to be sure they can get more. I took the original in and he cut from that. He also said they can use the code on the original keys but it does cost a little more.

Good to know that the local specialty shop is alive and well. Keep patronizing them and keep in business. I try to use the local hardware store whenever I can.
