TR2/3/3A Front Sway Bar Installation on Wide Mouth 61 TR3 Installation Problem?

I have an addco front sway bar that I am attempting to install and have not been able to align the rubber bushings with the bumper supports. What have other people done to resolve this problem? I would appreciate any pictures showing an other way of mounting the sway bar other than fastening them to the bumper supports? I was thinking of mounting a steel plate between the two bumper supports and and mounting the bushings to the steel plate.

In Bob Shallers "More BS about TR's" he came up with an ideal way to mount the Addco sway bar. Basically you weld two "1" square steel supports between the two bumper supports then attach the rubber bushing brackets to the steel supports. I did this on my 3 years ago. Maybe someone on this forum can reference Shaller's book and post the picture for you?

I found that it all fit nicely, with the bushings & brackets positioned on the curved portion of the bar. Worked fine for me, for many years. For the TR3 though (which has different bumper supports), I think I'll make up a new bracket that ties into the frame rather than trying to weld to the bumper supports.

The bracket fit on the angle of the bar, not completely on the flat.

The pictures were very helpful. I had thought that the rubber bushings with a lip at each center had to be set equally within the c shaped retaining clamp.

Jerry made a really nice bracket for his sway bar mount, to position the bushings on the straight part of the bar instead of on the curved part. Maybe he'll provide a pic?
i made a less elegant bracket to accomplish nearly the same thing and will post it this weekend when I get back to my home computer.

Addco carries the adoption plate that you are looking for.
I bought a front sway bar kit for my Triumph TR-3 from them about a year ago and it came with the plate you need
in the kit. The instructions do not show the part.
There are two sway bar kits for TR-3s one was for a TR-3B and that was the one I got.
I would call them up and ask for the adopter plates. They mount to the bumper supports and make it
so that the bushing bracket connects to the straight part of the sway bar.

Was not aware that an adapter plate was available. Have made a bracket for each bumper to relocate the rubber bushing. The instructions came with the kit stated that it was for the Tr3A and Tr3B. I will attempt to post pictures of these brackets when they are completed.

Addco lists #127 for TR3A and TR3B (58 onwards) to fit both models, since there's really no diff suspension-wise.
