Disc brake conversion

There is a 65 Midget in the local wrecking yard that has disc brakes and it looks like hubs for wire wheels. I was thinking of going out there to rescue the parts and anything else I can pull, but was wondering just what parts are needed to do the conversion? And since it has wire wheel hubs, can that be changed to accommodate regular wheels, or will that only be for wire wheel cars?

I'm pretty sure the wire wheel hubs only work with wire wheels - you'd need the hubs for a disc wheel car. That said, it's still worth pulling the bits as calipers, rear brake backing plates, steering arms, master cylinder, etc are all good spares to have around.

In addition to Drew's list, get the rear axles, hubs, brake drums, brake linkages etc - all will bolt onto a bugeye for a wire wheel conversion or the brake parts can be used on a bugeye with a change of the backing plate, but you also need the handbrake linkage rods as the angle of the connection is different. From the front, take the complete suspension setup, wishbones / A frames, king pings & stub axles, even the shocks and steering rack, all are interchangeable. If you don't have a sway bar and its there get that too !

If you want to mount minilites (by the look of your nice bugeye) you will need the different wheel hubs and discs for non-wire wheels. The stub axles, king pins and calipers are the same for both.

There have been some used wire wheel conversion parts on eBay for $180-200 not including the wheels, so you can always sell them on.

The axle tube length is different for the wire wheel axle and the tube axle. Not that hard to pull the whole assembly. Whats the body like? I've been looking for a rust free fender for a chrome bumper Sprite for some time. Hard to come by!

Right front but would prefer a sprite fender since the MG ones have the holes in them. Early fenders that are not rusty are in demand though and if its rust free I might just weld up the hole's.
