Convertible top Installation

Hello all. I'm new to the community, and a proud new owner of a 1971 Triumph TR6. My apologies if this post is a duplicate...I tried to post earlier today but I didn't see my question in the listing.

The car came without the top installed. The frame has been removed and repainted, and a new top was provided. My question for the group is this: Is installation of the top something the average person can do, or should I bring it to a pro? If I can do it, is there a good resource with step by step instructions? If I shouldn't do it, what has your experience been around the price to have the top installed?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

RJ?.. Matt? whatever it may be . That depends on how handy you are.
If there is someone in your area, check out what they would charge. Nice to know if they screw it up, your covered.
But then again ,many here have done it them selves

Check out the rather comprehensive TR6 Soft Top Installation Instructions from the VTR web site and then decide. A bit more complicated than, say, a Spitfire top, but probably a lot easier than a Miata or VW Beetle top!

A local club can be an invaluable resource when hands-on guidance is needed vs a description of the process. Also (I think) the best way to get the most enjoyment from your car.

I've done a couple of TR6 tops before (when I had one), and they are doable - but it is easier when you start with an old top installed for reference. Good advice already on internet resources as well as hooking up with someone local.

Great advice everyone, I really appreciate the help. I'm a little intimidated by the job so still undecided on which way to go. I guess I need to get a price from a pro and that will help drive the final decision.

Hi Bob i can't tell you about a TR6 top but i did my spitfire in an afternoon and it came out real nice ; take your time and you should do fine.

TR6 tops are not hard to install. Andys link will do the trick. First time, do have another pair of hands to help. Go slow and don't hesitate to measure a couple of times.
