TR4/4A Commission Plate interpretation "key"

What does the "L" stand for to the right of the Comm No on the Commission Plate of the TR4A. Is this just part of the Comm No., or does it have another meaning such as "live axle". It reads: CTC 74667 L
19 below that is for paint colour white, followed by H 11 which I believe is black leather trim.

I believe it stands for Left Hand Drive.

That is correct. If there is no "L", then it is right hand drive. The are several other suffixes that have been used, the most common being "O" for overdrive. That would be added after the "L" if a left hand drive was so equipped.

In case it is not obvious, right hand drive cars did not get an "R".

As you can tell by other aspects of the design, RHD was the default setting (though the minority of cars built).
