California Guys.
From my post in the AH Forum aboput California Black/Yellow (pre '68) license plate use..
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Speaking of Black plates,
I am sure that you are aware of the California YOM (Year of Manufacture)law that is on the books now....
In brief -- if you have a car that was manufactured pre 1962 you can use Yellow/Black plates on the car. I am in the process with my '57 A right now.
I purchased a SET (you must have two) of servicable plates on eBay that are not currently attached to anything and with a fee of $100 I will be able to use these plates, officially, once the approval and transfer comes back from Sacramento.
I had a set of Black/yellow plates that, per the DMV, are not permitted. If the car had been registered continuously over the years then the Black plates could still be used.. Mine had not been registered since 1974 so the DMV required new plates until I get through the YOM process..
I am unaware of any change to this law but there may be something in the works... Would be great for my 66 B....

I have a followup ..... See below
