I'm new to the forum and posted this to "new member into" before I realized it. Anyway I am restoring a 1962 BT7 and need to replace the front Hubs. Need to know what size socked is needed to remove the retaining nut and if I will need a puller to remove the hub. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Condoguy,

A 1+3/16 " socket is needed to remove the wheel bearing retaining/ adjusting nut. For wire wheels, you don't need a
puller to remove the hub+rotor together which is what you are supposed to do before taking the hub and rotor apart. You also need to remove the grease cup out of the hub first in order to gain access to the wheel bearing retaining/adjusting nut. That requires a threaded tool which you can make by drilling and taping ( 5/16-24 ) a hole in a large bolt.

Ed, thanks very much. I'm sure I'll have many more questions, but this is a good start. I really appreciate your help.

I had mine apart 3 or 4 weeks ago to repack the wheel bearings while replacing the brake pads. I really needed to read and refer to the workshop manual while I did this.
I would recommend that you get a workshop manual if you don't already have one.
There are shims in there to properly space the wheel bearings and a procedure to follow to get everything back together and adjusted correctly. It is explained very well in the manual.
