BN6 Static Timing

Gents,

I have a question on static timing, in particular the right adjustment of the moving contact on the cam. When the engine is at 6 degree before TDC (which is the setting for static timing) the moving contact should be exactly at one of the elevations of the cam, right? At this moment the distance of the contact breaker of the moving contact should be at the defined contact breaker gap, right? If this is correct, how can I align the distributor in a way that the moving contact is at one of the elevations? It is of course not the contact adjustment screw.

I believe it is necessary to loosen the distributer clamp located at the base of the distributer where it enters the engine block, then rotate the distributer (slowly) until the cam lobe is at the appropriate position relative to the 'contact breaker'. Depending on how off the timing is, it may only require a few degrees of rotation. Most AH service manuals cover this procedure well and include pictures.

My buddy should invest in AH service manuals then. He's looking to get this BN6 project after we finished installing the suspension and dually wheels on the Ford truck this week.
