BJ8 wire wheel and tire size

I currently have 15 X 4.5 Dayton wire wheels. I need to purchase new tires. I'm looking at Michelin 205/65 R15 for my BJ8. I was told that they won't rub. Unfortunately, I would need to get new Dayton wire wheels because the Michelin won't fit my existing rims. My question is this... Would 205/65 R15 fit without rubbing? If so, should I go with 15 X 5 or 15 X 6 Dayton wire wheels? And then there is always the question of tubless wires or not (I've followed some of the other postings... now I'm totally confused). I'm looking at a hefty expense. I want to do this right the first time.

I'm running 195/75 R15 now but they are OLD and need to be replaced. I like the beefier look.

Hi Healey65,
I have 205/60 16’s on my car, overall diameter is 25.7”. The rims are 16” x 6” with all the extra width on the outside. When the front of the tire turns in, it rubs at the seam of the shroud and fender. On of the things I need to have done at the body shop is have that clearanced properly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Greg, are you running tubeless wires? The 195/75 I have on the Healey now rub when I make a sharp turn. I can live with that.

Some use 6" wheels back, and 5,5" wheels for front wheels.
Using 6" front wheels, then the wheels will stick outside the front wings, and 6" wheels in front is also considered as a little bit to heavy. I asked Chatham about 6" wheels and he told me that 6" in back and 5,5" in front was a good setup.

Yeah, but I save a lot of money by not having a gym membership now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif Besides, I like to use the rear wheels to steer.

[/ QUOTE ]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif Let me rephrase that: a litte bit to heavy for the front suspension.

What I took off.

And this car IS driven with "kid gloves" by the customer!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

It is getting all new extensions and requires new wheels and will be getting 185s.
