Base for bullet style mirrors

Hi guys - I have a pair of original/period bullet style mirrors that i would like to use, but don't know where to source just the base fittings.

They are #42 style, and I just need the base.

Ideas?

I worked for the company that produced that mirror. In the day, the firm was named GT Classic. These mirrors where big seller's to the Mustang/Cobra lot. Give Tony Branda a try, if my memory serves me right? The base was manufactured in two different lengths.

I have ordered from them in the past. I usually just call or email them to place the order.
Strange that there is no order form though.

#42 in not a Tex mirror. The base that you require is made of pot metal and has a 10/24 fixing screw that "sandwiches" the base to the cone assembly.
I did point you in the right direction, or am I missing something?

Looks like a TR6 mirror to me. It's been sometime now but I got base parts from TRF in the past. What part do you need? I may have some extra TR6 mirrors laying around.

I actually have one GT Classic mirror still in the box - here's a couple of pics to see if that is what you have Tom:

Here is a closeup of the base. The base itself is 2.5" long, the mounting plate has drilled hole centers just under 1.5" apart.

Lots of bullet style mirrors out there, so if I were you I'd try to lock down the manufacturer if possible before buying the mounting kit.

Hi Randy - the base on mine is about 3.5 long.

These mirrors where a copy of the more costly Talbot. You will find many of the same, or Talbot's on E'bay.

@ TR4NUT, that mirror and box is from the 80's, in the hay day of production. In your pic, you can see the pot metal base with the head of the screw that "sandwiches" the base to the cone.
Brings back memories....California Sportscars where I had my first job working on old motors.

I got one of the gaskets from TRF about two years ago. If you call them I'm sure they still have them. I will look on Tuesday to see if I have one that's not cracking. I'll also check the size.

Are these for the TR4A? Both of mine have/had the bullet mirrors mounted on the front fenders. When I restored the first one, I went with the older style fender mirrors and will probably do the same on the second one as I prefer how it looks.
