...and just ordered new shocks from Peter Caldwell for my 60 BE. I hope all of you guys are right and that I'm soon going to be riding on air...or at least not having my lower back break everytime I go over a seam in the road. I'll let you know. Boy, this is an expensive "hobby".

Dave,

Not only shocks may be needed and that's an important start but you may need other front suspension stuff up there as well. When I first got Bugsy my '68 hitting a tar strip resulted literally in a uncontrolled lane change. It was scary, scary, scary to drive. Now after F & R shocks, new wheel bearings, rebuilt A -Arms, Ball joints, etc. Bugsy points and scoots and goes exactly where he's asked anytime anywhere. Peter C. can rebuild your A-Arms as well. While you have it apart have Peter send you some new wheel bearings. I never realized how they are a major wear item on these cars and replacing wheel bearings fixed a major handling wobbly wheel syndrome.

Thanks, Jim

Holy cow. I hope I don't need everything that you needed. But, if so, I have your plan for the other components/fixes I should do.

I'll let you know.

Dave,

Work with Peter C. He knows this stuff and can provide you with some insight as to what parts need to be replaced. This stuff isn't cheap to fix, that's why so many Spridgets are the way they are and don't handle properly and in some cases are downright dangerous to be on the road. Bugsy was that way when I first got him running. After a whole lot of front end parts and pieces, you can't believe the difference in driving performance. Like a go-kart going down the road. Can you say FUN!!!
