The "Beaver hauler" & both Beavers are owned by a german guy who lives in Germany during the winter & Canada during the tourist season...He owns & operates a lodge/fishing/tour company at one of my favorite places on the continent - Muncho Lake, British Columbia which is about 150 miles up the Alaska highway from where it begins in Dawson Creek, BC...Jerri & I have stayed with them several times off an on over the last 20 or so years..either in the big lodge or one of the cabins:

He offers fishing trips, aerial flights out over the mountains to isolated cabins he owns, sightseeing, or just a place to stop for a few days in your RV...the German pastries in the morning are "to die for"

Oh, both Beavers are painted exactly the same color scheme.

Darn, just typing this & looking at old photos makes me want to fly up there!

Thanks for sharing. That's a great-looking place.
When I'm retired (another few years for me), I'd like to try a place like that. I've bookmarked the site.

By the way, I would say that Canada's form of socialism is about as pure as America's form of capitalism.

And, someone asked why the floats were so expensive. It's not the materials (which are all pretty ordinary). It's the FAA certification process (which is very expensive and time-consuming).
Add-on aircraft parts are generally called "FAA-PMA" (parts manufacturing approval) or "type-certified". Once you have an approved part, you can charge the moon if you like.
There are very few companies that sell approved floats for Beavers, so it's a supply and demand thing. And these companies need to pay pretty high insurance due to the potential risks of using their products.
You could build your own floats, but the plane would have to be listed as "experimental" and you could not use it for any commercial purpose.
The U.S. and Canada have similar government rules for aviation.

But WHY?? I understand why you would want the airplane in front (backing expensive airplanes into .....) , but why cut off the back of the truck?

70herald,

I thought that at first too and then realized how difficult it might be making a 6 wheeled vehicle turn accuratly. Having the turning wheels in between two axels would be nearly useless.
