AH 100S [I saw 5 of them!]

It's pretty amazing to see even one AH 100S.
This weekend, I saw 5 at the Lime Rock Vintage event. Middle picture is sort of dark, but there are 4 in a row with one in the BMW display. There were many 100Ms there as well. Two big AHs actually raced.
All 100Ss were real and at least one has appeared at Amelia Island.

I drove up, with some friends, from Long Island on Saturday. Had a great day- lots of sunshine- lots of cold beer- lots of great cars.
I even picked up a very nice AH enameled front badge at the swap meet.(of course I paid too much)
It was about a three hour trip for us. On the way up we were kind of lost so we pulled off the road to ask two women talking for directions. Turns out that one of them was Jane Curtain of Saturday Night Live fame. Nice lady.

It was certainly a great weekend. One of the highlights was a Healey parade lap organized by the AHCA Northeast Region with about 50 Healeys on track (including mine). Two of the 100S cars, including the spruce green Jackie Cooper car, were damaged in a racing incident at the downhill and had to retire while battling for position with some of the Allards. Not beyond repair, however. It's hard to imagine putting these cars in harm's way, but that's what the reason they were built. And although a 100S might be extremely valuable, there were also an original Ferrari Testa Rossa and GTO on track, too.

As part of my pre-ownership research I went over for the car show on Sunday. It was a cooler day, but the beautiful cars just warmed my heart. I met some great folks - Peter Davis, from CT was showing his superb 56 100M (I am so green with envy); Bill Wood, former owner of three of the 100S's on display - what a gentleman! - Alan Miller, from Claverack, NY brought over his newly acquired 56 100M still being restored....I learned a lot just listening to him. It was a just a great day all around, and just reinforced my desire to own a big Healey one day. Thanks everyone.

You're welcome Skip. I guess I didn't know you were an "Aeronca-guy" too. I have had several folks e-mail me that are Aeronca/Austin Healey owners. Must be an "A thing", huh?
And don't listen to Jeff.....he's just jealous!

Nial, I learned to fly in a 7AC, so I'm familiar with low and slow. Used to fly a 1938 T Craft as well.

I like to tell folks I am a pickup truck and pine tree pilot. I fly no higher than tall pine trees and no faster than pickup trucks and I have fallen out of both and not been hurt so the Champ is really safe. Now that I am retired the Champ works great here on the farm. Skip
