The past 3 weekends found me installing a 1275 engine that was rebuilt at Grooms in Nashville 15 years ago. The tranny broke on the car and it was set aside in someone's back yard for 12 years until I bought the whole package for $305.00 on eBay.
After 3 years of looking at it wondering if I wasted my money I installed it and the $10.00 eBay ribcase.
To my great joy and surprise the engine started without touching the choke or accelerator. It was like a colt wanting break into a free spirited run around the pastures.
After doing the normal teaks and tuning associated with an engine transplant it was time to test the beast.
I can proudly report 82mph shows 65psi oil and normal coolant temps and when idling at 750 rpm the oil pressure is still 45psi. I guess even Spridget engines can get better with age.
