1500 Accelerator cable

I am getting ready to place an order to Tony for my Christmas present to myself, but I can't find an accelerator cable for a '79 1500 in the Moss catalog. Do any of you guys know where it is?

I went to a bike shop to see if they could make a cable for me, but they sent me packing. I can find the item in the VB catalog, but I have had one too many bad experiences with that outfit, and prefer not to order from said.

Not to shuffle the topic too much, Morris, but what happened with Vicky Brit? I've always used them instead of Moss, but not for any particular reason; just ran across VB first and stuck with them. I get both catalogs, though. If there's a potential looming problem I've just been lucky with, lemmee know!
(FWIW, I got Nigel's accel cable thru VB and it works just fine.)

Not really 'sposed to bad mouth vendors here. I have probably already pushed Basil's good will too far. Sorry.

But if you say the cable you got is good, then I may go ahead and order the VB cable. Tony is a VB distributer, too.

im using a customized Golf car cable myself. Was nearly twice as thick as the original.

I've been using cheap bicyle cables, cut to length. They're only about $4 for of 6 cables.
But I've snapped a few.
This year, I'm going to switch to a modified motorcycle cable. There are lots of styles ~HERE~

Spitfire or Midget?

I think I have a couple of NOS/Unipart throttle cables for a Spitfire 1500. They are are genuine B/L. Send me a PM if interested; I'll make you a deal.

I've switched to twin SUs and no longer need them.

Down here in sunny South Africa.
I used bicycle cables once, seemed to work. Then a strand frayed and got stuck in the cable sleeving. Poor engine touched the red line. So I went back to ordering originals but before I put the last one in I patiently drop oil in the sleeve using gravity. Worked really well and smoothly. I imagine in the states being a left hand drive the cable goes smoothly to the carbs. Being RHD the cable comes out of the cockpit then does a wide sweep over the passenger side engine before returning to the carbs back on the RHS.

I have used exactly 1 bicycle brake cable on my Sprite for the past 20 years and it is still in there. If you put it in carefully with a little bit of oil or grease it will last a VERY long time. The one I put in there was the cheap one from K-mart back when they still existed.
