I am currently working on a 68 MGC and am having no luck getting the new alternator and regulator to work. I installed a new wiring harness in the car and they lead to get rid of the Ford alternator that someone added at some point in the cars history. This lead me to suggest to the owner that it would be a good point to get the original alternator and regulator which he did find. After installed them I noticed that the ignition light illuminated with the key off and went out when the key is switched on. When I test the voltage at the “ind” terminal it reads battery voltage. Am I suppose to get zero voltage and continuity to ground at the “ind” terminal and then when the alternator starts making power it turns the “ind” terminal to battery voltage to create a balance at the ignition light? I’ve had the alternator to a shop to have it tested to see if it’s charging and they said it was although when the car is running it isn’t charging. Any help or tips would be appropriated. I’ve also been givin a used regulator to try and it made no difference although the guy who gave it to me didn’t know if it was any good.
Thanks, Jim
