Would you keep both a 3000 and TR3? Is it crazy?

Are you kidding? Crazy boy! Variety is the spice of life. Keep them both and never look back...

After quite a bit of soul-searching, and a toss of the coin, the Healey won out. The TR3 is on the auction block now.

I guess we can see how the British car market is percolating. If you'd like to see what happens, here is a link:

1962 TR3B on ebay

Best to all, Jeff

Very nicely written advertisement!!

Thanks you guys.

It kind of sucked the wind out of me that it hit reserve so fast.

The current high bidder contacted me today. He seems really solid, and has a great collection of British cars in original condition (that's why he is so interested in adding this TR3 to his garage).

He has a 57 Healey in that collection. I think he said an original paint car.

That paint is original!!! WOW.

A lot of it is, but not all. It's been touched up and repaired in spots over the years. But what is there and is original is pretty good, actually.

If the buyer were to totally repaint it, that would be a shame, but not a tragedy. If the original parts of the interior were replaced by somebody, that would be a tragedy.

I'm following it too. I was thinking the reserve should have been at least $20,000, but it wouldn't have made any difference. Clearly bidders see the quality/value of this car.

Thanks you guys for keeping up with my TR3 sale. It has created quite a bit of interest on ebay and directly from bidders.

Wonder what is going on in Canada- I've gotten several inquiries from there. I'm guessing the exchange rate? Or a special appreciation for Triumphs?

On the reserve, I debated what to do, but I prefer lower reserve auctions. It makes it more interesting, and I think it encourages bidders so they know it's the real thing, not a futile exercise. Despite all the horror stories we hear, my experiences on ebay have always been pleasant, and there really are some good people/car enthusiasts out there.

$25,600 -- so who bought it?

The high bidder just checked in with me. He seems solid, lives in St. Augustine, wants the TR3 for their mountain home in North Carolina. I figured it was going to one of the Canadians, but guess not.

Thanks for following the sale. Jeff
