Worth Buying?

I went and took a look at this 1969 B-GT in person a few days agohttps://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31857&item=24 72448651&rd=1

There were some issues with it, so I put it out of my mind. Now, the seller didn't meet their reserve so I'm reconsidering the car. I think I can get it for around $2500... My question is, is it worth it?

The floors will need to be replaced, rockers have slight bubbling, engine is in need of attention (rough idle, no record of recent maintenance) and the rear leaf springs are shot. With these issues, and many others likely, should I keep looking?

Thanks for the help

p.s. - It does, on the bright side, have no current electrical gremlins, new exhaust, decent interior (besides door panels and seats), and decent chrome (bumpers replaced).

Listen to Tony if he posts. I would think a couple grand.

Hello Ed. I've bought 2 cars on ebay auctions - one of which is a 69 mgb. IMO, don't offer anything over the top $ that was bid for it for an auction that has ended without a sale. It seems to me that there were 17 or so bids, so I think that the bidders knew where to stop which, again imo, is a better indication of value. Plus, the interior does look bad and is going to cost you hundreds? to fix...Jim

NAH! That's a dealer who doesn't know British cars & just publishes generic marque info...if there's rust as you described, he was lucky to get $1800 bid....don't offer any higher....take cash, you might bring it home!

This weekend I'm going to go up there again... see if a reasonable cash offer will sway this guy.

Too bad your headed to Alaska Tony... those 69 B-GT's you've got are tempting. I wish you the best on your trip though!

I agree with Tony although I think 1800 is way too much. and if you want a GT from Tony get the 68 before it gets turned into a race car

I know where i can get one for free (another one) I just need to get the 77 built first

Ed...don't offer him $1800...try for $1200 or $1500 though I wouldn't give it for a northern rust car, even if it runs - there are too many good ones around here...however, price is relative to location & availability

Unfortunately, the work for my Sophomore year finals at Temple U. and a new job at Subaru have taken up the time I had set aside to look for a GT. I thought about giving the guy a call in about two weeks when school is done... if its still there, its fate! and I would definitely consider it for a summer project.
