...Seriously, has Saab even made an aircraft in the 21st century? ...
Heck yeah, I would so love to drive a new SAAB.

Seeing as how SAAB's automotive group had been spun off from the aircraft unit many years even before GM's involvement (at which point they GMified it to where it was hardly even related to itself any anymore) their "born from jets" campaign really should have been "disowned by jets."

There is a nice replacement with metal ends and balls from John Deere that solved the problem.

You (gasp!) put tractor parts on a Triumph?

If you put a bug (or bugs) in the accelerator software together with a bug (or bugs) in the braking software together with a bug (or bugs) in the steering software... together with possible hardware bugs...

The way these bugs usually work is that they are only revealed in certain specific circumstances that were not tested by the manufacturer prior to release and therefore unknown before they crop up. When they do crop up someone usually files a bug report and the issues are examined, the coders and testers try to replicate the bugs and patch or fix them.

Not so big a problem in a computer game or even a word processing program.

Big problem in a vehicle of any kind, or a medical device, or...

Have any of you guys seen a diesel run away? I saw a Detroit Diesel in a HD shop go red line. Very serious amount of engine that is cranked to the max!

Several reports regarding Toyotas are that the engine won't turn off when you turn the ignition switch off. Putting car in neutral or any other gear doesn't help either. The lady who testified in Congress the other day told this story. She could not stop her car for over 6 miles. It finally stopped on its own (or God stopped it as she said). The problem isn't stupid floor mats or needing a steel bar under the throttle pedal. These cars just have too much electrically controlled stuff. Now some cars have electric steering so they don't have to design a steering column. The first thing that usually goes bad in cars nowadays is wiring related electrical issues. If you are going to use this new technology in cars, it dang better well last the life of the car and they don't design them that way. Never have.

My wife bought an 07 Solara last summer just before all this hit the air waves. Now it appears this has been happening for years. Think I will ever buy another Toyota?

This REALLY bothers me.
To the point I don't want to be a driver, passenger, or target of ANY toyo-tata.
Does this mean ignition won't kill computer?
And, is the gear shift also electronic, and no longer cable/linkage?

Horse manure, Toyoda.

Holy smokes! Listening to that woman's testimony gives the situation a whole new perspective. We have a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Definitely worried. :nonod:

Yes I did! And these are the part numbers.
M43152 for one (1) rod
AM33050 for two (2) joint assy.
An exact fit onto the factory balls bolted to the linkage.

I've a whole "collection" of th' things. Lots of Italian & German cars use 'em. Even adapted Bosch's Alfa injection linkage to th' Webers I crammed on th' Spider with 'em.
