Winter Storm Reports?

We saw many photos of the big winter ice storm in
America on CNN news tonight.

How about some weather news from BCF members?

We also are having a deadly winter storm here in the
Caribbean. We will lose out electric momentarily.
A sub-hurricane is pounding us but good. Major flooding,
landslides, power outages, trees down, severe marine
conditions, the surf is over the coastal highway.

How are conditions in the States where YOU live??

...which is just another reason I flat refuse to go to the tropics. I posted this in another thread but... a couple years ago I got caught in a December storm and it ruined the interior of the airplane (it rained that hard). The resort we were working at pulled in all their boats and made plans for the "worst case". No thanks.

Good luck!

Arkansas is on the warm side of the winter storm line. Strange weather...wet and 50 one day, wet and 70 the next. Just hoping the line doesn't shift a few miles to the southeast and sock in the northwest corner of the state where the oldest is. Two more days and he's home for a month...it will be nice to be a whole family unit again (at least for awhile)

Thismorning it was right on the raggid edge of freezing. Everything was encased in about an eighth inch of ice (including all the walkways) and it was raining. By the time I made it around the car scraping, the first window I had scraped was icy again.
It was tricky walking, but the roads were mainly just wet. and by afternoon things had melted considerably.
no biggie here.
Stay safe Dale. you're the one getting pounded.

0.5" of ice yesterday. Sporadic power outages.
Expecting another 0.25" tonight and that oak tree in our yard will no doubt come down.
Expecting more ice tomorrow night, then 2" snow on wednesday....
OK, KS and MO are getting it worse, keep a thought for them.
I'm ready to snowbird this joint.

I agree Dale - turn the bilge pumps on - Just another ho hum freezing rain going sideways kind of morning where all the auto body shops are doing the happy dance. You should have been here last Friday afternoon we were all playing ice hockey on wheels. Lotta illegal fender bumpin goin on.

and to think my bro in law just went down to Dale's country last week for 5 mths to get away from the winter here.

Weewillie;

Then your bro in law is experiencing an awesome time at
the beach today. Weather conditions are worse today than
yesterday. I'll take the Ghost out later and try to get
some photos. Howling wind, sideways inundations right now.
Power off and on all night. 40 to 50 MPH winds, I;ll try to
check on my boat layer.

Weatherman SAYS!

SEAS 17 FEET AND SWELLS UP TO 14 FEET FOOT AT 10 SECONDS
HAVE BEEN PRODUCING LARGE BREAKING WAVES OF 10 TO 14 FEET
OR HIGHER ALONG THE LOCAL REEFS...BEACHES AND SHOALS OF
THE LOCAL ISLANDS....AND LARGE BREAKING WAVES BETWEEN 14
AND 18 FEET CAN BE EXPECTED TO REACH THE LOCAL COASTLINES
OVERNIGHT AND PERSIST THROUGH AT LEAST 11 AM AST
TUESDAY.

A drive in the Six today looks doubtful. A bit nasty
this Tropical Storm Olga.

80 degrees, in the Charleston SC area.

Dale, as long as the waves aren't reaching into the bar he will be ok /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Hotter in Charleston than down here!!! 75* and puffy clouds!!

Supposed to be in the lower 80s here today. My whole family is looking at moving north.

Heard on the national news this morning that there are 600,000 homes in Oklahoma without electricity. Fortunately for me, mine is not one of them. Yet anyway.

Moving north? Really??

Uh huh. There are good and bad things about anywhere you live. Not sure about the rest of the family. Pennsylvania had been mentioned. Snow and cold doesn't bother me much. I don't care for the ice storms though. I took these just before I cleaned off my truck to go to work a year before I moved to Florida (snow wasn't a consideration when I moved).

...on the other hand, I shot this a couple of mornings ago. Like I said, there are good and bad things about everyplace. It was a miserably humid morning, but no ice to contend with.

Ontario looks much like Wisconsin, 10 inches on the ground 4 more due tonight, freezing rain at present for variety.

Saw a guy in an SUV do a neat 3-lanes-at-once lane change, backwards on the weekend. Hit the barrier, jumped in the air, came down on the passenger side in the slow lane. My very first thought was that it rebounded harder than I expected off the Armco, thought it should have buckled to absorb kinetic energy. Next thought was I hope he doesn't get hit in the floor by a car, I don't think they are designed to protect you from that.

Pulled in front and looked in the windshield, all 3 occupants now in the front seat, but look o.k., tried to open the drivers door (upwards) but either locked or too heavy, cop siren heard so peeked round, gave him a situation report and left it to the experts. Wife was a bit shaky but it really wasn't bad, more interesting than scary. I have definitely seen worse wrecks in Solo 1.
Simon.

This AM temps are in the high '70's(F) and by noon will be mid '80's. Some fog issues for early morning commuters but it'll burn off quickly.

I'm enjoyin' every bit of it.
