From a friend who lives on the Oregon coast at Netarts Bay and how she did during their last storm.

Quote:]
Well...so much for a generator and redundancy. The generator worked fine. However, we had no phone (cell or land line) for 2 days. The fiber got washed out in 3 places on the coast.
My DirectTV dish needed to be reset. That happened Sat. I just got internet back last night.
The worst was that falling trees smashed pipes and the reservoir drained. We had no water from Tues night until around midnight on Fri night.
The winds were gusting to 80 to 100 mph for 36 hours. It was so so noisy. Things kept hitting the house. I kept the window coverings drawn. I have a bit of siding damage, etc. I'm lucky none of the big stuff hit a window. The house is still weather tight.
Two of Tillamook's many rivers flooded. They went down pretty quickly.
We were completely cut off from Portland for a day. Power came back Thursday night. The long time locals said they never saw anything like it. Weather records indicate it has been 45 years since there has been a wind/rain storm this big. It lasted so long. My nerves were shot.
Now I'm waiting for the quake and tsunami. I'm not kidding. It's about 100 yrs overdue.[/QUOTE]
