I think the replacement seals are different from the origional ones. When I did mine I installed the seal retainer to the side of the windscreen frame with rivets (small screws are easer) and then slid the seal in from the top into its channel with some soapy water to help. I could not figure out how to reinstall the flat metal bar that was screwed inside of the origional seal without tearing the new seal up so it was left off. Two years later and no problems, the seal is still a tight fit and has compressed well to fit the space between the window and frame without being to tight (no crack of doom).
