Windshield post seals

Has anyone replaced the post seals between the windshield and wing windows on a mgb. How do you get the screws back in the retainer without putting holes in the seal, i dont see enough room to get a screwdriver to go far enough up the hole in the seal without damage. Thanks

I think the replacement seals are different from the origional ones. When I did mine I installed the seal retainer to the side of the windscreen frame with rivets (small screws are easer) and then slid the seal in from the top into its channel with some soapy water to help. I could not figure out how to reinstall the flat metal bar that was screwed inside of the origional seal without tearing the new seal up so it was left off. Two years later and no problems, the seal is still a tight fit and has compressed well to fit the space between the window and frame without being to tight (no crack of doom).

Thanks, the straight piece of aluminum that fits inside the seal is what i was having trouble with, sounds like you had same problem. wonder how they screw it in without damage to seal?
