TR6 Window glass allignment

The passenger window doesn’t roll up properly. It was very hard to crank up and I haven’t been able to roll it all the way up because the glass isn’t aligned. It rubs the windshield frame about 2 inches below the full up position and it forces the glass out as you try to roll it all the way up. I have been replaced the window regulator and adjusted the slides as much as you can, but the glass still isn’t aligned properly.

I haven’t been able to find any other adjustment to correct the problem. I have attached photos showing the problem. You can see the gap at the top of the door and at the top of the glass. I used the paper towel to give a better view.

I have also tried to adjust the windshield by loosening the frame bolts and windshield dash nuts. I was only able to move it more upright by about an eighth of an inch.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are your doors in alignment?
If the door cards are off maybe you can check the winder mechanism for any adjustments.

The problem is inside the door where the lift assy attaches to the door shell. The other thing to inspect
is the regulator arms for bending (also common). Bad channel guides can cause this problem.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have installed a new regulator (the old one was bent) and adjusted the bolts as far as possible to align the glass. I have also tried adjusting the guides, but no improvement. The only improvement is that I can now crank the window up easier and it doesn’t stick part way up.

I’m thinking it may be the glass channel that attaches to the regulator, I think it looks bent as well. Out comes the glass.😫

Hard to see from here , but the hole in the door that the pivot bolt fits into gets worn and must have
a washer welded to center it again. Or the retainer clip on the reg popped off.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes the door is properly aligned. New hinges were installed by the previous owner when the car was restored. No play in the swing of the door.. Everything looks the same as the drivers door except the alignment of the window.
