Will fixing Healey Shake negatively affect Resale?

My Healey will sometimes get the healey shake. It's disconcerting. The cure, I'm told, is to continuously weld the transmission opening on both sides and perhaps add bracing.

Will this negatively affect resale?

Will this eliminate a Concurs rating if I choose to restore to that level?

Assuming your car is structurally sound, start with the wheels, then move to the driveshaft.

I assume what you refer to is AKA Scuttle Shake.

Are there any original owners on the forum that can attest to the abscence of this shake on a new off the lot Big Healey?

My plan of attack has been:

1>New rear suspension (leafs, shocks, bushings). Done

2>New Drive line mounting hardware (Motor, Transmission, transmission rear mount bushings). Done

2>New hubs all around (obtained but not installed)
-awaiting 3&4 below

3>Front end rebuild
-bushings, kingpins obtained
-awaiting shocks, springs funding
-requires one shock tower top replacement (obtained but awaiting welding plan)

4>New wheels (Awaiting 2, 3 & funding

5>Steering gearbox etc rebuild, bushings, ball joints (Probably done with 3 above) (more funding

6>U-joint renewal. Done last weekend.

My hope was that by doing all the above I would reduce Scuttle Shake or at least change the speed at which it occurs. I usually just live through (read accelerate) it and some times think about astronauts during re-entry.

What am I missing?

Schttle shake is often caused by the rear brake drums! Go to the Hendrix site for some pictures and info:

I have been though the Wheels and drive shaft, The Drums did the trick for me!

I eliminated the scuttle shake on my BJ7 last year by rebuilding the idler, installing new hubs with new bearings, new 60 spoke wheels, new tires, and balancing/truing by a shop that specialises in wire wheels (Valley Wire Wheel in LA region). King pins and steering box are also in good shape.

Make sure you balance/true the wheels/tires, brake drums/discs and driveshaft.
