why would someone trade this in?

I wouldn't trust the mileage unless it was documented.

I would also do a very thorough check. If they are asking 12500, then they probably paid about 1/2 of that as a trade in/auction.....

My 2 cents.

Can't tell for sure, but it looks like it has a New York State Inspection sticker that either runs out sometime between now and end-of-year...or it's expired (the "2012" stickers are red, and this one seems to be yellow). Could be a case of someone just wasn't driving it much or at all and couldn't justify it sitting around, so they traded it in. That's a pretty big volume, multi-storefront dealer chain in the area, and I kinda doubt they'd even bother cruising the auction circuit for used cars to sell.

BTW, it is about 25 miles or so from me; if anyone really might be serious about the car and would like me to look, I might be able to arrange something.

Back when I bought my project of a TR6 in the spring of 2010 there was a dealer in RI that had taken one in trade, with hard top, and they only wanted 8k for the car, I probably should have bought it in hind sight, and borrowed the extra money to have a much better start than the one that I did get, but my budget was h alf of that, and i was looking for a project car.

Justin, wasn't there a dealer over there on Rt 146 with a TR8? I think they had it for a while, it used to show up on craiglist.

Mongeon Auto Sales has been selling a TR8 for a long time.

people do the strangest things. I once saw a 65 corvette convertible that was sitting on a volvo lot??????? Who trades in a 65 corvette for a volvo???

Looks like it might be a repaint - no flag decals on the
rear fenders. And the front turn signal lenses from a '74-1/2,of -
course it could have been sold/titled in '75.

Yes, as mentioned Mongeon Auto Sales at the stoplight on 146 before you get to 295 has had it for sale for a long time... it's in horrid condition, has a lot of rust, and has been rotting outside uncovered, and they dont really want to budge from their 8k asking price. It's a disaster!

Times are tight. If you really need a new Altima.... :frown:

Funny, my folks just bought a new Altima, and I went with them to help them out, taking along my TR3 for car-guy cred. Thankfully, it worked, the salesman and and sales manager were both knowledgeable about British iron...
