...do I need in my '74 if I have overdrive? Or am I nuts? No I have not stated my festivites yet! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Speedo's the same regardless of the transmission; for the OD trans, use tach #SN5230-08 ~ 1280 turns unless your '74 was made after Sep 74 then its the same regardless of transmission ~ 1000rpm

Did you reverse the Tach/Speedo?

Car is from 7/74 and has a speedo SN# 5230-065 ~ 1280. Will this do?

The tach is something like VGC 141/00AF.

oops, sorry - dyslexia today....

Main thing is the turns - 1280 is what you want - the other just happens to be the speedo's model number.

Starting New years early? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Thanks Tony. I was just checking. I was flying the other night and if my speedo is correct...OOPS!

No citation, NO FOUL!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Ohh I was 'cited. So 'cited I almost peed myself!

LOL, they seem very fast because they are small and low. Part of the fun of course. Remember your buns are only 6 inchs off the ground.

Good thing for solid floors. Ouch!

So if the TPM is the only issue for converting a car form Non OD to OD, then why are there different PN's for OD and non OD speedos (until 76)?

A lurker comes out from the shadows. Welcome to the BCF and that is a great question.

Some were different RPM's & had different parts numbers....some had different chrome trim rings & had different parts numbers....some were different sizes & had different parts numbers....each minor difference caused a new parts number.

Heh! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I've got a citation here from the WA State Patrol says 87 mph on it.

When your rear is only 6 inches off the ground and you are flyin' that speed it really does seem fast!

I don't do that any more, having been given a reprieve by the judge for my past good behavior. If I keep my nose clean for one year it totally goes away, just like it never happened.

All but the memory anyway! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
Only age can take that away!

I only did it for a second to see how it would do.

Suuuuuuuuuure, vinnie, we believe you!!

No really occifer!
