Where would I start to get a little more HP.

I will almost bet that there is water in the distributer and the points are wet with water.
If you just pull your distributer cap off and leave it off for about 5 hours (or less if you guys are under a "Santa Anna"). That should allow all of the water to evaporate and you will be good to go!
These distributors were never sealed against water too well.

An application of WD40 will dry out a distributor. Search for 40 uses for WD40.

When I first purchased the car I did a servicing on it. I changed the oil and so on, I also changed the distributor cap. I not know completely what to change just changed the top. Underneath that is the same one that was on there as before. I read some numbers and it says 27X-V4 on a black box looking thing. Is that what you are refering to? That is very tight, the thing in the middle that spins around is tight, and what they are all in is very tight. Then the top is snaped down with two clips and that is also very snug fitting. I removed just the one plug and it looked to be ok, not perfect in any way. It was wet and smelled like fuel.

I just keep coming back to the carb and why would it be closed?

I took the cap off for about 20 hrs and then tryed it and it had no effect. I guess I should ask is that what you were meaning to do. Is to take just the cap of it off? If so I did do that. I'm sorry, I guess I should have said that I have been trying everyones ideas as they come in. They have been most helpful. Becouse I have been learning some much through this ordeal.

OK, I got 5 bucks says you put the distributer cap on backwards. take off the cap, turn it 180 degrees, put it back on and try again.

Yes after I try to start it I do have a small smell of fuel in the air. As if it's flooded. After I try to start it two to three times it happens.

And also I don't know if this is important or if it is suppose to be. The carb is ( choke ) is closed. It does not open at any time when starting. It seems that that whould mean that it's not getting air. No air - no fire - no fire - no start. Or is it suppose to be closed.

the smell of fuel indicates that you are getting fuel moving - that's a good thing.

Oh no I changed the cap a while back ago. It has run great sense then. In drying it out it seems that there is only one way that it can go on. Any other way and the wires will get all twisted and bound up.

If the plugs are wet it's either too much fuel or no spark at the plug tips ( meaning you could have sprk to the plug, but if the plug is fouled, it won't fire.)

Pull one of the plugs out, blow off the tip till it's dry, hold it against the engine on a good clean metal surface and have an assistant spin it over. Do you have fire at the tips of the plugs?

Note: you can just hold the plug agaist it with your hand, but make sure it's grounded good. I usually use a screwdriver to hold them down. Grab it at the hex, not up by the wire.

When I said to take it off that is all that I meant- you did it correctly. It is only to allow any moisture in there to be allowed to escape. It is starting to sound to me like you have flooded it. It MAY work to take out all of the spark plugs, allow them to dry in the sun and crank the engine over for 5 to 10 seconds to allow the cylinders to dry out. Then replace the plugs (if they look clean) and try it again (with NO choke!!)

How do I not use the choke when it's an auto water choke? I have now taken the plugs out for about 20 mins to let them dry. I will now label the cables to know where they go. Then try to start it for 10 sec or so. Then put it back together an try to start it. But do help me with the auto choke thing?
