Wheels

I have a wood steering wheel I'm yanking out of Emma now that my new hooters are here! The original is going back in. I'm considering swapping it to Brian for some polishing hours!

Man, I wish that wood wheel would fit my car... I know wood alot better than steel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Why wooden it?

TEH/HO
Just remember that when the cloth top gets wet it has to stay up until it completely dries...& it shoud stay up whenever stored! Its not one of those vinyl things you can throw down & forget about....how do I know? 380SL & $1200 original German cloth top!

???/??

TEH/HO? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Keenan there?

To Each His/Her Own

...oh, yeah, Janel - get caught out in a rain, put the cloth top up & you're stuck with it up for at least 24 hours...no tossing it back down when the rain stops...its called "mildew"

I don't think you have the patience for that....hehehe

I have the patience of Job.

Hmmm, couple people in the club have 'cloth' or mohair whatever tops, never noticed. And Mangles' top is a trunkaway top on the MGA.

Vinyl is nice... What's the new one for the car I'm gettin from ya in a few weeks Tony?

Believe its cloth, Kenny

cool. Vinyl was available, but only on the low end base model.

As I understand it, you're planning to go with a vintage-esque paint/interior color scheme for Binabox right? If so, I'd stick with the painted wires, especially since you already have them. As long as they're straight and true, they'd be fine, and would add to the vintage look. Just my 2 cents /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree. I think Minilites or a copy thereof are really neat classic looking wheels. But for me, stick with wires unless those you have are beyond use. Then... not sure which way I would go although I still lean towards wires. I like original cars although not all of mine are.

You know, Kenny, I really don't know...its still in the box - it might be vinyl

Janel,

Cloth is not as big of a problem as some are suggesting. I have a Caribou top on my TR6. As long as you store the car with the top up, you'll be fine. You should really do that anyway! If you get caught in the rain and it gets sunny again, drop it wet! Who cares?! The top's not going to mildew while you drive it down the road. Just put the top up to dry when you get home and it'll do just fine. Just don't FORGET to put it up to dry! I like cloth, but the price forces me to go with vinyl on my B. If I ever need to replace the vinyl, I'll consider cloth again at that time.
