I have found alot of information in the forums about wider tires and wheels that people are using on their Healey but no where does any one mention off set or back spacing. I have a set of steel factory Healey wheels. I wish to make the wheels a bit wider (15x5.5, 15x6) but I want to retain the original centers so I can run the original hubcaps. Everyone talks about Mini-lites and wire wheels but again no one speaks about the off set. I need this info so that when wider rims are welded to my existing centers I will not have rubbing issues on the front inner wheel wells. The rear is easy to figure out since there is no steering to worry about. The car is a 1961-3000 BT7 with stock suspension and I want to keep the tires within the stock fender openings with no tire protrusion.
Is there a different offset from front to back or are they the same?
What is the off set for a 5-1/2" rim and a 6" rim?
Can anyone that has wider wheels help me out?
Thanks,
Pete D

These wider wheels generally include a higher spoke count and include Hubs are compatible with the original Knock Off.
I do not know how you can do that without purchasing new wheels.????

View attachment 33251once upon a time, i widened the rear wheels on a 59 bn6 for the same purpose and to keep the healey hubcaps. i would suggest that you measure your stock wheels and determine where the tire needs to be placed in the wheel cavity and still not protrude outside the fender lip or rub the inner fender panel. i cant suggest the offset but widened to six inches is certainly doable in the rear. i have six inch minilite type wheels on my bj7 and i have no problems with them rubbing....but they have splined centers. the fronts are about one-half inch too wide to the outside

IMG_20140414_181337_544 (Medium).jpg I agree. They are a bit wider but fit just fine (and IMHO look very nice). Got tired of having the occasional 47 or even 46 spoke wheels and every time I took a tire off I saw inner tubes that were (despite my best efforts) chaffed and probably about to send molecules to the low pressure side of the tube. Sorry I don't have any real numbers for you.
