What voltage regulator?

The highest I ever saw was 13.5 and it drops under load. So I unless I am very wrong I think that that is a bit on the low side for proper charging? I was under the impression that the once the battery is basically charged, I should have around 14v, and it should be steady under load.

Most annoying thing... I moved the van out of my driveway to wash down the driveway, blocked my neighbors driveway and right there in their driveway is where I got stuck when it wouldn't start a second time in a few minutes. When my neighbors pulled up their car to jump start me... it was a Prius and no 12v jump point. Their other car was trapped by the Prius and my car. Ah 12 v so close yet so far away! My Kia hybrid can jumpstart 12 v cars....

Yeah, around 14V ~should~ be what the alternator is supplying when running. Were you able to give the alternator's contact bands a cleaning before you swapped out the brush pack? I'd suggested CRC 2-26 contact cleaner earlier. You could try giving the contacts a spritz with that as it's running, thru a vent in the rear of the unit... sure couldn't hurt it now!

That parking shutdown has to be a pain, too.
