What to Carry on a Trip with Your LBC

Duct tape and WD40
If it moves and you don't want it to duct tape it

Just got home with our TR6 from a tour through the western part of the UP. Left yesterday morning and got home late this evening. Over 800 miles and no problems other than a lot of bugs on the windscreen!

<span style="color: #006600">My Goodness Tom, 800 miles is a miracle drive in a TR6.

In all of 2006 I got 67 miles driven
10 months of 2007 I got maybe 150 miles driven
A quirk of 1100 miles in Nov-Dec 2007

TYD 2008 I've got a little over 300 miles driven and the
car is presently not functional.

You dog, you!! You drove more in a week that I got in almost
three years of constant repairs.

I hope your good luck continues,

Hey Dale,

You've been celebrating special days and island hopping, so we have no updates for the past two weeks.

What is currently going on down there with the TR6?

For tools that I always carry: flat and posizriv screwdriver, 7/16", 1/2" and 9/16" wrenches, electrical tape, small coil of wire and a terminal end kit with crimp pliers, bottle of 3-n-1 oil for the carb, and rag to clean my hands off with. Oh yeah, and my cell phone. That's it. If I'm going on a roadtrip there are a few other tools and spares that I carry with me but that's it for every travels and short trips.

I've been using a chase vehicle lately that carries TR6
parts known to have broken down on my car; as well as
tools to make the repairs.

A spare transmission? Now that's what I call prepared!

I can go along with everything but the tape measure....

That's just overkill in my estimation.

<span style="color: #000099">The tape measure is for emergency, side
of the road front wheel alignments. A quite common
TR6 roadside repair, as I understand it!

Very helpful when wheels fall off, while driving.

This question comes up occasionally (I've asked it too).

For 100 miles there and 100 back, I wouldn't take anything more than a few basic tools, a cell phone, and the number for AAA, Hagerty Plus, or whatever (which I've never needed... knock on wood).

For longer trips, I compiled a list with suggestions from this forum and local club members. Seems I remember duct tape showing up under several categories. Here's the link: https://www.redrivertriumphclub.org/roadtrip.htm

Hey, I don't see any flywheel or clutch??? No axle shafts or trailing arms???

That backup parts vehicle is a little light, I'd say.

<span style="color: #000099">Paul, highly doubtful those replacement parts are
ever needed for the nearly perfect concours cars. The emergency
breakdown parts for concours is quite lengthy, as seen below.
Those of us with far less than concours reliability must carry
even more parts.

Dale with all that stuff, where do you put your wife?

<span style="color: #3333FF">The wifes sits at home by the pool with a gin and tonic
and her cell phone nearby waiting for the call the TR broke down again.

I thinking about removing the passenger seat and installing parts
bin there.
