What foods do you abhor, and why.............

Luke Skywalker

Spam...because that is all they fed us after Hurricane Audrey in 1957

Ritz Crackers...ditto

Summer Sausage...never could figure out why Yankees eat it

Cilantro...because it is kin to soap!

...and I love all of those things even if I am a "Southerner" (from Los Angeles!!)
BillM

Green vegetables...except lettuce. I just don't like the taste. I do like root vegetables however.
Uncooked fish.

What? What? Someone doesn't like green vegetables?

Obviously never tried my famous brussels sprouts with butter, nutmeg and toasted peanuts!

Tom

Rutabega and powdered milk.....either/or.
Growing up, family from our church, 9 kids, one car (Fiat Multipla) and when you visited for dinner it was Rutabega and powdered milk.
I will_not_touch either any more (powdered coffee creamer is the closest, and I avoid that).

If I get any Rutabega for Christmas, I'll mail it to Doc.

Yep, to make those brussels sprouts palatable, you had to <span style="font-weight: bold">add</span> butter, nutmeg and peanuts. That always seems to be the way. You have to <span style="font-weight: bold">add</span> stuff to green vegetables to divert your taste buds away and cover up what they really taste like.

Liver. Because it's disgusting. Not too overly fond of goat cheese either. The musky undertones revolt me. Other than that the world is my oyster.

Lobster, crab, calamari..... nope! But I do like shrimp..go figure. overall not a big seafood fan, except for the occasional fish fry, and California rolls with wasabi. Clams only after copious amounts of beer, and drown in butter..
Liver (or any other organ)Not a good flavor to me.
peas,Only fresh out of the garden. once cooked, not a chance!
Tuna noodle casserole!!!!! yech!(Fish AND peas... NO)
Cowtails (The candy) Got sick on them once
Spearmint gum. For some reason the smell gives me a headache.

Shrimp, Lobster, or anything remotely similar.

I'm with ya Bas... <span style="font-style: italic">"if it swims I don't eat it"</span>

Oh, and I forgot to add sweatbread. No, I am not talking about sweat bread. Wiki it, and it will make you wretch.

grits (runs and hides)

Thanks, Bill - this has been one of the more entertaining threads on the Forum!

And, yep - all y'all would die in Louisiana!!!

Mind sharing your recipe?

Does sound good!

Nutmeg, huh? Surprise, surprise! :jester:

Oh, and to knock out several of you, one of my all-time favorites is liver and onions with grits!

Coleslaw, peas, any weird animal products (pigs feet, ox tail etc...)

I absolutly hate, will refuse to eat, and just might if something is cooked with whole chicken parts and there are joint or bone pieces floating around in it.

I like nuts, I like chocolate...but not together. I'm a texture freak. I'll smoothie the crap outta any fruit, just don't give it to me in naural form ( see joint matter reaction)

I don't like seafood perpared along with any meat products.

Why?

A. seafood is expensive ( when bought right) and the meat overpowers the wonderful subtle flavors of seafoody goodness.

I don't understand you guys who don't like seafood. Somthin' wrong wit ya! :yesnod:

Good thing y'all live where ya do.

My niece won't eat any animal products. I told her it's best if she don't visit here.

Oh, and the utter abomination known as canned tuna. Why someone would eat cat food is beyond me. Whomever is responsible for molesting such a fine fish should be fed chicken bone and joints pieces along with it.
