What does "excessive brake fluid pressure" mean?

Re: What does "excessive brake fluid pressure" mean?

:iagree: You are correct Greg. I took that picture as a test and you passed with flying colors.

Just joking, I did realize that I had reversed the leading edge, but I was desparate to try anything. I have since then reversed the shoe correctly. BTW it really didn't seem to matter a great deal because I drove the car with the shoes as they are and it stopped okay. But I did reverse them back the way they should be.

Okay, don't know whats going on but I did replace two of the springs at the adjuster (one on each side) with newer one's and put it all back together. Guess what? The brake still tightened up a bit so I "SLAMMED" on the brakes and it released! So I drove a little further and again I can feel the pedal tightening up a bit (not as much as before) so I hit the brakes hard again and it released almost immediately. All the way home the brakes are fine. So maybe all along I just needed to seat the brakes. Of course replacing the two springs may have helped as well. I don't care, the cars getting better all the time. I'm sorry I took up so much of all you guys time but I really did need the support.

:thankyousign:

My BJ7 is now roadworthy but I have a serious problem with the rear brakes. All is fine at startup, when I drive even as little as around the block I notice the brake pedal becoming very stiff, I mean hard as a rock! When I start a drive the pedal freeplay is fine but as I proceed the stiffer the brake pedal becomes. Eventually the brakes start to overheat. It seems only the rear brakes are affected. I jack up the car and you can't even move the wheels by hand, the front brakes are fine, wheels move fine. I've adjusted the rear brakes, by backing out the rear adjusters, and all is well again. I might add that the brake lights come on and stay on. I've bled the rear brakes twice now and do not notice a problem. In fact, once the car sits for awhile the pressure releases and all is fine again.
What could be causing this problem?
Thank you in advance.
To finally put this post to bed I now know what the problem was and the "fix".
I posted incorrectly that the problem was only at the rear brakes. The problem was intermittent and would "go away" after sitting overnight. Actually both the front and rear brakes would "seize" up. The problem was the master cylinder afterall! took a nice long drive last night and went well.
Many thanks to all who took the time to respond. As usual, the BCF came through.
