Can't beleive that little bit of unsprung weight would make a difference that could be detected.
 
Hello!

Long time no posting but still interested in more information. In the meantime I have found out that the car with the last English owner was present at the 15th Anniversary of the Dutch Healey Club, this was in 1990 in the Netherlands. At that moment the car did have the original English plates on it.
A video of this meeting shows the car several times. The exhaust sounds great, cannot wait to get the car rolling again!

If anybody can give more info please post. Untill today I did not find another can with the same body.

I think it IS a Lenham!! The flat, Kamm-back tail and the recessed headlights all fit the right profile, though I think it is similar to the Sebring front end treatment with recessed headlights! I have seen that nose before, just can't place it. Perhaps a Lenham with a more streamlined nose fitted for competition.

Less oz.s....more power:weight, Jack, every little bit helps!

Interesting, I have now seen three rear views of what definitly looks like similar Lenham rears, and in each pic. the fuel filler is in a different place!! The filler on Alex's car is even in the stock location. Not surprising though and each one has different tail-light treatments too!

PS My BE has a flip-up filler like those pictured. After losing a few caps I went junk-yarding one day and found an old Sunbeam rotting away. The only decent part left on it was the filler, so I grabbed it and have loved it ever since!
 
Jeff, I have seen that yellow car before. In the meanwhile I do have a lot of pictures of cars which do have similar bodies (the yellow one is one of them). At that time it was no problem to positon the rear lights and filler cap as the builder wanted.

Regarding to the front I do have more questions. On all pictures I do have the position of the front indicator lights are placed on a different spot, also the shape of the "mouth" is different. These 2 issues are not easy to change, you do need a different mouldig for this.
In fact I do not have a picture of the front of the yellow car, maybe you can help me with this?
At most of the Lenham cars I have seen is the distance between the headlights and indicator lights bigger.
See enclosed picture of the inside of my front.

I am really interesed if my car is a special one or just a modified car by one of the owners.

If anyone does have more info please post it!

What more information do you need? I think you have a consensus that it's a Lenham.

By the way, at one point I though it might be an Ashley but it isn't... See this

It seems to me that what Alex has is a Lenham chassis with an Ashley nose on it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

I am also looking for a price indication for this special car. The car is not running at this moment. What is a good price indication as it is now?

I am also thinking to make it run, so do some maintenance to the engine and braking system (maybe more than only some...) to get the car in a technical ok condition. Price level will be different then. What is a good indication for a running car?

Yes, I do know the website. In the last 2 years I have collected a lot of information regarding the special bodies. Untill now I have seen only 1 car with the same rear body part. No 2nd car found yet with exactly the same front! So very rare and in my opinion very interesting.

I like the car very much but I do have too much other things to do. I am still thinking of making the car technically ok for some track day fun!

Of course I can put it on a plane, but only if someone is paying the car and the transport...

Your car has a Speedwell "Monza" nose and a Lenham Coupe rear - the Lenham Coupe rear is very rare and was Lenham's initial design to go on the Frogeye and has no rear windows. They subsequently made the Lenham Le Mans rear which was designed for the Mk II Sprite / Mk I Midget onwards, and which does have rear windows (this is the Lenham style most people know).

There was a similar car at Spridget 50 at Gaydon with a Lenham Coupe rear, but with the matching Lenham nose, and there is also the infamous FLY, a heavily modified Lenham Coupe with W&P Sebring GT nose and a pretty wild Cosworth crossflow engine that was converted in the late 60s, and was well known on the mod scene and documented in several period magazines before it was shipped to Australia circa 1971, where it still survives.

I was also the opinion that the rear and front where of a different manufacturer. But I am not completely convinced of the Speedwell Monza nose. From the Speedwell noses I have seen is the opening in the middle of a different dimension and is the design of the indicators different too (in this one deeper in and not just srewed on the nose). In there any explanation for these differences

Maybe you can answer another question too. Do you have any idea of the age of both body parts? What were the production dates of both parts?

I can see how your bonnet differs from the single picture on the W&P site, however as it says, they were made by several different manufacturers. And they're still available today new in slightly different versions. https://www.sebringsprite.com/price_list.htm
These guys at Archer's are quite good guys. Try asking them directly.
