Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?]

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

That was quick! Amazing what a web search can reveal...

I'm sure some of you guys know of Aussie Bill Buckle, produced some of his own sports cars between 1955 and 1961 under the name Buckle. I guess he converted some Mini's into these Mini Monaco's around 1966 - my information doesn't say how many were ever made.

Yup! Happy New Year, just finished watching a great Flames/Oilers game, of course Calgary beat Edmonton, yay!

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Argghhh! Calgary seems to be the Red Wings nemesis this year. Of course, I always love to see Edmonton get whipped.

Wow, that's slick. And I like the ferrari 250 driving by in the background too!

Sorry that's a Datsun - lol! I still like it. I was wondering why it looked so small.

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

What a neat Mini - what'd they have to do to make the modification?

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Custom fiberglass work... followed by making a mold (more fiberglass and wood), and then turning out the 30 cool looking cars! I'm planning something similar (but not as grandiose) for a fibreglass boot cover/tonneau on the B... Maybe the Alfa too!

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

So, it was a commercially produced kit?

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Tony, Check here. It's all the info I could find...

Look about 2/3 down the page under Mini Monaco.
https://www.miniownersclub.com/article_9.htm

Lot's of other neat looking conversions in there too!

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Late getting on this thread... That Mini Monaco car is HOT!!!!

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Yeah. Definately way cooler than a regular box on lil wheels mini.

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Pinky: What are going to do tonight, Brain?

Brain: The same thing we do ever night, Pinky--work on our little British car.

Re: Weird Mini fastback in Australia [Mini Monaco?

Cool.... The Twini Mini is about the coolest engineering exercize in that whole site. And probably the most power a sorta-stock mini has ever had... (outside of the vtech honda transplants).
