Water Pump Leak

i am sure you already know this but one thing i was told when working on a couple of older cars was not to make the belt too tight. it puts constant pressure on the water pump bearing and wears them out faster.

Yep; tightening fan belts is an old-school art. There's format techniques but it's really just a matter of feel; one way is to tighten just so that it's difficult to impossible to turn the fan by hand without the belt slipping. Serpentine belts make it too easy.
