My 67 3000 was hit in the front right and not correctly repaired. Looking for a section of frame forward of the right side motor mount to include both lower control arm mounts and shock mount/coil spring area. Can include the motor mount but if not must be just in front of it to start where I need. Part or all of the front cross members going to driver's side would be nice too. Bumper mounting studs and shroud attachment sheet metal must be included. Don't need the wheel well.

Hoping someone in Georgia (Atlanta area) has something.

Thanks,
Robert

You should contact Kilmartin Automotive Sheet Metal in Australia. They have what you need and at reasonable prices. Shipping is reasonable too.

Kilmartin is still in business.

This car was hit several times in its life, at least once in the front. Frame is cracked in two spots of the box section on the RH side: in front of motor mount and ~2" vertical crack on RH outer side near motor mount (not shown). These can easily be welded. Bigger concern is shock mount. Are bolt holes in LH and RH shock mounts supposed to be in a straight line? RH side looks to be rotated back a few degrees due to the hit (clockwise looking down on it). See studs from the shoddy repair. Also rear most bracket for lower control arm is leaning inboard at the top. Likely alignment is way off.

This car is rough. Spent its first years in NY. Not necessarily a rust bucket, but it is a car of my youth I plan to get running/driving again. Hasn't run since likely 1975, the year my dad bought it. Only concerned about mechanicals at the moment. Not worrying about cosmetics, and I'm not concerned about cutting, grinding, welding in patches to the frame to make it sound.

Anyone have frame dimensions beyond shop manual for: shock mounting plates (side to side, surface angles), lower control arm brackets (side to side), vertical dimension reference points from top of frame or motor mounts to top of shock plates, etc? I can draw up and have laser cut fixtures made at work, and my brother gave me his old Miller welder. All I need to do is learn how to use it.

Thanks,
Robert

I believe that the VIN is stamped on the outside face of the shock mount. Might need to save that.

Hi Robert,
From your pictures, I do not see any damage caused by an accident. From my experience, Healey frames bend when impacted and do not crack. I have two Healeys, one was wrecked and one was not and both had cracks at the motor mounts. The cracks are from the weight of the engine combined with engine vibration. Kilmartin sells a kit AH293 to correct this problem.

I have searched for years for more detailed chassis schematics with no luck. If you draw a line down the center of the chassis, the dimensions are basically mirror images of each other. I’d suggest comparing the left undamaged side with the questionable side. I have done this many times with good results.

Have fun restoring your BJ8.

The datum sheet of the fame/chassis is easily had.Do NOT attempt this repair without one. Having done
a number of big Healeys over the years. It is a job for a seasoned pro.Get the rail from Kilmartin and save the tower
with proper pulling. This will save the VIN#.

If you look straight down on the RH shock plate it's rotated a couple degrees clockwise. Are the shock plates supposed to be coplanar? I seem to think they should be, but definitely the RH is raised up on the far end.

Old collision damage is all too common and must be repaired to the original specs before ANY
body work or panel replacement. If you can see a difference from one side to the other, it is wrong
The Healey is a VERY unforgiving unibody platform for the DIY guy.
A pro can set this right and replace damaged sections.

Take your car, even just the frame, to a real body shop
I’m retired from 50 years as an owner operator, start repairing on your own elsewhere
The frame has to be done by a professional as well as the welding. It’s very important as it will affect the alignment of everything
