I am in Roanoke, Virginia this weekend so I dropped by Webb Motors yesterday and they were open! The salesman showed me the "new" 1967 Austin Healey Sprite they have in the showroom...one owner from new, all original, low miles, looked great, only $10K USD. I also looked at the red TR8 and he started that car up, sounded great. They had three MGBs, two chrome bumper and a rubber bumper, an MG Midget, and two Rovers, all in the showroom. Outside they had an MGBGT, a Midget, a Rover, and a Geo Tracker (weird). It was great and oh so tempting! It was like it was 1970!

Hey, Shinsen, where is Webb located? I'm formerly from Rke, so I know my way around.

I'll be in Rke next weekend and would like to drop in at Webb (I hope it doesn't become an expensive visit!).

thanks!

Do they have a website? Sounds like a time warp and I'd love to see pics.

Webb Motors is on Williamson Road, near the intersection with Peters Creek Road (Hollins area), across the street from Wendy's. It's been there since the 1950s if I recall correctly.

I don't think Byron Webb has a website. It is like a time warp. The do restoration work underneath the showroom in the basement. I've seen one example of their work...very nice. There are a couple of pictures I posted a while back in the Member's pictures section on this site.

What kind of Rover do they have for sale there?

I have no idea. There were two sedans inside in pretty decent shape and one outside that looked pretty rough. I have zero knowledge of Rovers. Maybe vaGT6 can get some more info when he's down there next week.

Will do. I'm going to drop by there Sat. afternoon, I'll let you know what I see.

Went by there on my way back to C'ville today. Didn't look too much because the weather was awful.

I now remember this place from my Triumph days back in the seventies (I was born/raised in Roanoke). Webb has been there for a long time, I'd say at least since the late sixties. It's about 300 yards south of the US 419/U.S. Rt. 11 (Williamson Rd.) intersection, on the east side of Williamson Road. BTW, Rt. 11 follows the old "Carolina Road" - a lot of history has passed down this pike!

I saw some very nice LBCs as I drooled throgh the showroom window of the tiny, cinder block building. It still has the "Triumph/Rover/MG" dealership logos signs painted on it. Here's what I saw:

> Two nice Rovers, both looked like they'd never been driven: one was a PERFECT looking 1980 3500 SDI, couldn't see the signs or prices. They were both just lovely;

> 3 MGBs, all like new (squeaky clean wheel wells, etc.): a '67 with OD & "Kent cam", price $18,500; a nice dark blue '65, and another nice chrome bumper one on the back row;

> A VERY nice red TR-8. It was on the back row so I couldn't see a price or details. It looked like it was new;

> A lovely, carmine red/tan interior (nice paint job, too) '76 Spitfire with a "6 speed" gearbox (obviously a Jtype OD). It looked perfect/stock, no price tag;

> Two very nice AH Sprites: in front, a new-looking yellow '67 for $11,900: it looked bone stock. I couldn't see the info on the other Sprite, but it looked very, very nice also;

> A shiny, clean MKII Midget (I think it was a MKII - view was blocked by other cars);

This guy has some serious LBCs, but I wouldn't expect anything but tip-top market retail prices on them (what else would we expect from a dealer???).

Too bad Webb is closed on weekends since I only go to Roanoke on weekends. I think the business name is "Webb Imported Motors", but I could be wrong. Phone number shouldn't be hard to find if anyone is interested.

Brought back some old memories for me, I didn't want to leave!

Oh what memories that photo brought back, we bought our 1st new car , a TR6 back in 1970 at a dealer in Vacouver, BC, very much like that one. Took out a loan for the $ 3500.00 it cost, could not sleep a wink that night! I will NEVER forget that sound when they fired it up in the showroom to drive it out.
That was a great car!

I've been there a few times - nice!
I took the ferry from Vancouver Island
to Horseshoe Bay when I bought the MKIII Cortina.
Even in the rain the scenery is incredible.

....yea, the saying around these parts are, "If you can't see the moutains it is raining and IF you can see the moutains it is GOING to rain!"
It was a GREAT place to live but i just could not handle the weather after 12 years of it!

Glad you got by there Mark. I met Byron Webb a few months back when I was there. Bought a heater control valve from him. They are occasionally open on Saturday, go around back and down under and see if the guys are working in the restoration shop.

That yellow A-H Sprite is a stock, original, 1 owner car sold at that dealership and kept in Roanoke all these years.
