VerValen Special

Re: Van Valen Special

I don't know what happened but that Bandini page locked my laptop up so tight that the only way I could get out of it was to push the "on/off" button.

Re: Van Valen Special

Sorry! It's a huge page. If you don't have high
speed it will take a LONG time, and even with high
speed you might have to wait a minute

Re: Van Valen Special

I have high speed & it popped right up, no problem...just when I wanted to come back here, I couldn't....I couldn't get out of it so had to shut my laptop down incorrectly....could be it was still downloading information in the background but my message was that it wasn't responding

Re: Van Valen Special

With out seeing it in person it's hard to fathom
just how small it is! That's my mom and she's about
five four.

Re: Van Valen Special

Sure that isn't a pedal-car!! (only kidding...that is one gorgeous shape!) It actually kinda reminds me of my all-time favorite, if I could have anything, dream car!!(1952 Maserati A6GCS - see below!)

Re: Van Valen Special

Is that the birdcage Maserati...you know there's a company making a kit version of it?

Re: Van Valen Special

Yes, my Father loves that car and tried many times to buy it in the 1960's and 1970's. He actually had 3 A6GCS Masers if you can believe that! Here is one of them:

He also had a Birdcage. You can see pics of them on this page (don't worry, its not a very big page):

Re: Van Valen Special

So, you're a SWB guy. A lot of people are. I prefer
the 250 Monza and of course the GTO.

He sold all of those cars too early, but we're VERY happy to still have the two Bandinis!

Re: Van Valen Special

Hey Doc That Maser replica A6GCS must be of a newer version than the pix I posted! Much more streamlined than the '52!
One of the things I love about the '52 is that the fenders are held on with Dzuz fasteners (so you could race open wheel or sports car races!!)
PS: Tony this car pre-dates the birdcage a bit!(which is also a gorgeous car but a "pure" racer!!).

Ah, well, the one being produced now up in the Seattle area is a replica of the birdcage.

Re: Van Valen Special

I think the birdcage was of 1956 vintage! Still a nice car! I wonder what they are putting in that replica for power? A Jag engine would have the right look (at least as far as the pic of the '52 engine goes!)
