VerValen Special

Correction to my orignal posting:

The car I have written about is actually called the VerValen Special

I just found some PVGP records that indicate that the owner is Tom Wall of Oakton, VA

The actual full records refer to it as a 1958 VerValen Special Crosley/Devin, so I will have to assume that it actually *is* a Devin body as Cliff suspected.

I have changed the posting title too, to reflect this new information.

While we are on the subject, a couple of years ago I was at a used bookstore and there was a book on "building" car bodies. It was British in origin and if I remember correctly talked about tube chassis etc. It certainly came with templates for body shapes. Of course I didn't buy it and have been kicking myself since. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'd love to find the title and try again.

thanks

Hi John-Peter,
Well one good turn deserves another, you found me the photo of a Rochdale Olympic and now I may have found the book you are looking for. I had this book SPORTS CAR BODYWORK as a Christmas present in 1960 when I was 14, First published in 1954 and Revised in 1960, written by B.W.Locke and published by B.T.Batsford Ltd, it has pull out plans in the back.

This is also a good book I had as a Christmas present in 1961, RACING and SPORTS CAR CHASSIS DESIGN by Michael Costin and David Phipps and published by B.T.Batsford Ltd in 1961

Now you now why I am into 1950s/1960s British specials and Kit Cars.

Kind regards Tony
