Value of an early Commission Number

I am considering owning a TR250. It has a very early Commission #, among the first 25. Does that add much to the "value" of the car?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Not to me but I suppose a seller would cite it as having some value (like a car owned by John Voight).

IMO, early numbers only add significant value when they denote features that are rare (long door TR2s & flat floor XKEs come to mind). Of course early features (like these) were usually dropped because they proved unwise so the cachet may come with some inconvenience as well as a premium price.

I know of no such distinctive features in early TR250s -- indeed it is even hard to appreciate 'early' in the context of a car that was only built for one model year.

I would agree with the comments below. The for the TR250 itself I believe is based on the limited production of the model since it was manufactured for one year only. I would think that condition and options on the car like overdrive or even the magnesium wheels would be a greater impact regarding value. Also, in addition to the condition of the car, if the history is know including ownership and maintenance and repair records would all have a bigger impact on value for a TR250. This is a good question to be asking.

Thanks for the input. The owner has a high opinion of the commission # being low.
