Upstate Frogeyes

Well, Russ (toysrus) dropped by this morning so the Sprites
could socialize. Ran into G'Vegas in Screamin' Mimi.
Hap wasn't at the shop. Went on to Import Specialties
(Alan's shop) and talked Frogeyes and looked at his Judson Supercharger he has for sale and prodded him to finish his 1380cc Frog. Cruised downtown G'Vegas (Greenville) and
got lots of thumbs up and stares from the public.
Great morning. Beautiful weather for a drive.
Great day for a Frogeye social.
Pics are the Frogeyes in front of the Buggy Barn.

Sounds like a great Bugeye day!

I'm a fan of the front bumper on a Bugeye as well (in a minority, but there you go). Really, Bugeyes just look good.

Great day got better

So, we took the B out to dinner tonight at Caro-Mi
in Tryon N.C. ..GREAT place. Wonderful twisty drive the whole way there. Drive through a covered bride over a river for parking. SWEET. Been there many times before.
Of all things I see a couple getting into a Miata after dinner and mention how nice the weather is for top off driving.
Dang! Dude has a 1960 Frogeye too. Alan built his engine!
His is red. We discussed getting all these Frogeyes around here together for a fun drive soon.
LOL...he's seen pics of Screamin' Mimi that Alan sent him and
mentioned "Boy your Frogeye has a lot of chrome.".
:jester:
We discussed his and my engine mods and such.
Exchanged business cards.
What a great day!

Howdy Kim,

I`m looking forward to meeting with Y`All on the next "Beer Run" or wherever and hopefully My B/E will have its "Feul Starvation" issue fixed!! Only on "Long Up Hill Grades"??? She`ll be going into "Freds" shop in Taylors shortly for "Tweeking"; "Thanx Hap".

Relative to front bumpers on a B/E; I feel the Orig. ones protrude out too much and detract from the nice round curves of the bonnet so; Off they came & personally I like it. Whatever turns you on!!

Gundy, Great pics & Great, Fun Day; "Thanx".

Regards, Russ

Don't fret it. Mine will cut out on a long uphill grade if I keep it to the floor when its hot. I think my fuel pump gets hot and a little week and don't get the flow when I am in a pull like that, but I can just back off a bit and it comes right back, so that does not bother me much.

Howdy Kim,

Glad to hear yours comes back & you continue on your merry way. Mine, Dies! I need to let her cool down for about 10min. or so & off we go again (Downhill)! Soon to go into the shop & get her sorted out.

Good luck on getting it all straightened out. Mine will be fine when I play with it in the garage and test it out and never miss a beat but get it good and hot(I mean the whole car) and it will start to cut out on a long uphill pull. Most of the time I never get in a pull that long but coming up HWY25 to Saluda I was in 4th running 60 and trying to make 65 when it started to cut out a bit. I backed off to 55 and made it the rest of the way up with no problem and then back to 70+ once I hit the level at the top of the hill. It has to be when it hot and I been in some stop and go so there is not much cool air been going under the bottom. I can feel that fuel pump sometimes and its hot as fire. Its a solid state job that I bought from a vendor who is no longer around. It was a direct replacement for my SU one and I rebuilt the old SU and still carry it as a spare.

Might just might pack one of those chem. cold things around the fuel pump with duct tape and see the the prob goes away.

Re: Steve's Frogeye

Very very nice looking Bug.

Re: Steve's Frogeye

Looksto be clear and sunny this weekend. Anyone going to be riding around in the little cars? I might come down that way, but I don't know the roads, do a little exploring, maybe eat at the Beacon drive in.

Re: Steve's Frogeye

Looks like it will be next year for the big do at the BMW plant Kim.

I got a new puppy instead, hehe.

We'd be up for a little run. There is a neat drive from #276/11
up River Falls Road, onto Gap Creek then the wonderful Devil's Fork Road. This leads to Hendersonville.
Here's the link to the Caterham on Devil's Fork road.
Short trip in all. 45 minutes will do the whole nine yards.

No can do. Sunday I have family plans I shouldn't break.
I plan to hit #11 about 11:00a.m. and meet Russ at the
Pumpkintown Opera on #11. Drive up and do lunch in Hendersonville and grab some fine stuff at Mcfarlan's
Bakery and head home in time to gorge on college football.
