Can I drop just the Transmission out the bottom of a 67 340 (mk2)

If you can reach the upper bolts and the bell housing will move back far enough to clear firewall. If not careful will crush rear oil lines on back of head, speedometer connection, vacuum line mount. I have never removed just trans. Easiest if a 4-speed was installed in an automatic car, as the auto housing is wider than the stick.

no. I mean, like Larry said...you will damage all sorts of stuff trying to drop the engine low enough in the back.
Then the tunnel isn't wide enough to get the bell back far enough to clear the input shaft from the clutch plate.

Now, if the floor section could be removed with the narrow bits at the sides, and the top of the firewall above the removable tunnel, maybe.

On mine (2.4L so shorter height block, even) I looked...closely....decided to pull engine and trans (and they do come out the top, but it is still a royal PITA. Glad I did, as the engine needed serious going through (knew head gasket, but needed it all).

ah. No idea. Still, does it have the 3" studs out the back of the block? Can you get the tork converter unbolted from the flexplate?
Than, maybe, back two inches and drop straight down.

What does the owner's manual say?

the bogwarner is in a supplemental appendix not the stander shop manual

I know it is in the parts indexes. I'll czech my Shop Manual later today, see what it says.

I went through my official MKII Jag shop manual. While it mentions automatics, there is no provision for a supplement for same.
I have all sorts of included supplements, overdrives, power steering, various carbs....the only thing it says is to remove a gearbox the engine and trans must be removed from the vehicle.

and then....da google....several spots where folks have dropped (numerous times) a MK2 auto box out the bottom.

One of the tricks seems to be to fully remove front motor mounts to drop engine enough to access upper bell bolts, but not sure.

Me? Hard enough to pull mounts then get up above and yank it all out the top.
Can't imagine at this stage in life doing all that under the car.

Ahh great i will tell my guy.
I just got a job offer, so that will complicate getting the car done.

ok trying to get this all back together, the inner bearing shims on the diff are not a valible and mine are worn. looks like if we go from a 7.5 shim on the exteranl U joint up to a 8.5 to take up the Laderal movment will that be a problem?
