TR2/3/3A Unusual Tires On TR3

Here's some additional insight. In 1965 & 1966, one could order their Corvette with Gold line BF Goodrich Silvertown tires, and for 1967 the Silvertown Red Lines. Statistics show that 65% of the '66 Corvette purchases were optioned with white walls.
In my area in the 60's, both the Triumph dealer's showroom and the Jaguar - Austin Healey - MG dealer's showroom proudly displayed their cars outfitted with whitewalls - Dunlop Gold Seals. Michelin "X" tires were the extra cost option we all wanted because of their known performance in the rain and on the autocross circuits, and of course they were only blackwalls.
The first Michelin "Redline" I ever saw was in 1968 on the TR250 (with Rostyle wheel covers).

Here's me (and my whitewalls)...47 years ago:

You have video of your Triumph from nearly half a century ago converted to digital! That is so nice -- thank you.

That was a great video!
Did you get your 3 for college or HS graduation?
do you still have her?

thx again

Hey Thanks Guys - glad you like my throwback super 8 movie that my mother insisted she take just before I went to my high school graduation. I started saving for my first car at the age of 10 by mowing lawns, shoveling snow, walking dogs and collecting returnable soft drink bottles (2 cents at a time). When old enough, I worked as many hours as allowed at the neighborhood grocery store. The promise was a matching loan (from my mother) to the amount in my savings account. I purchase in November of '66. It came down to a decision between a '62 MGA MkII and the '61 TR3 - both on the lot of the areas best sports car dealer (Ladd Motors in Lebanon, Pa.). After driving the two, the TR3 won my vote. A one owner, super clean, 36,000 mile example of all that was good in English sports cars. I was very proud.

Man, that sounds just like my childhood days back in Tx(except for the snow part of course). & we got $0.03 per bottle.
my brother & I split the cost of a 59' TR3A back in 71. Pd a total of $380.00. Needless to say she needed a little work....
But we were able to keep her up and running. My Mom did the upholstery for us and my Dad helped with everything else.
it was the great memories of that old 3 that motivated me to do it again (at this late date) with a 1960 TR3A
