I am lookng ofr some good quality Union Jack decals for my 8. I want to place them on the rear quarter panels and am looking for something between 3x4 or 5x7. Any one have any ides where to fid some? Thanks

I got mine from TRF a few years ago. Great quality and price was fair.

However, I have two tips for you:

1:Order an extra set, then you're sure not to screw one up. They're cheap enough to save the aggravation.

2: Use blue painters tape to mask off the top and bottom of where the decal will go and check the lines with a level. You will then have a perspective on how they will look and will be sure that they are not tilted up or down when you put them on.

You'd be surprised how many people have them installed crooked and screw up the paint trying to get them off to reinstall.

And no, I didn't do it, but only because someone else gave me the tip first.

I do like the Roadster factory's stuff, I do not like having to join them again. I had been paid up until I left for Iraq, I never thought about keeping that up to date so it lasped. I will look at Moss. I was just looking at the local Triumph Motorcycle shop and they have some cool stuff, esp the shirts.

huh? join? They'll sell you stuff without being a "member"

Make sure you get a left and right and put them on the right sides. The PO put the passenager side one upside down. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

I think PATR8 is looking for standard Union Jacks, not the TR6 Union Jack. He's a TR8 pilot unless he has a TR6 he hasn't told us about.

On installing the Union Jacks, make well sure they are right side up. Upside down Union Jacks don't belong on British cars. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Most parts suppliers will sell these in the accessories section. VB has some mylar ones but they will fade with lots of sunlight. You might also just try a local sign/graphics shop. They can make pretty much any decal you wan't at any size that you want. Shouldn't be very expensive either. I suppose you could also make your own TR8 Union Jack decal similar to the TR6 ones.

You don't have to join anything to buy from TRF. If you are referring to the Coventry Club, that is an option that allows for discounted specials among other things.

exactly what I meant, sorry if I confused anyone.

Sorry, Pat. That was really stupid of me to not see that you have a TR8. Maybe the masking tip will help though. Good luck!

Actually my name is Scott. PA is (as in Pensylvania) TR8 (car type). No Pat here. I am worried about quality, I do not want anything cheap on my car.

UMMMM... a little... ok allot bigger... than I was looking for. I just want 5x7 or in that area. I have found allot that have TR6 written on the trailing edge, I would like to just have it on the rear quarter infront of the side marker.

Just about every decal I have seen, including those mentioned here, are out of proportion. Usually the "St Patrick's" (Irish symbol) and St Andrew's crosses are out of whack, because the overall 2:1 proportion is wrong.
See Drawing the Flag

Anyone know where I can get an accurate decal or two, please?

fyi,
the "union jack" is correctly refered to only, when on a ship, flying a "jack" (smaller flag).a "jack" is a naval term and the "union flag" is often incorrectly called a "union jack" because it was most recognized on british ships.
now, i wouldn't want to call the british flag on my car a "jack" because of the possible boat or ship connotations.

I like the idea of a TR8 Union Jack (I do not mind a ship or boat connotations) that looks like the TR6 one. I will go look for the local decal shops and see what they run

Do you call the pieces of metal that form your cars body on the corners 'wings' or 'fenders'? Ones from aircraft the other from boats. The standard use of the word can overrule the traditional use of the word and the common usage reference for that flag is now 'Union Jack'.

The best classic example I like to use in this type of discussion is 'Nimrod'. To most people, being called one is an insult. The reality is that 'Nimrod" means great hunter or fisher, hardly an insult.

Nimrod is a city in Wadena County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 75 at the 2000 census.

Nimrod was the ship used by Ernest Shackleton in his 1908 Antarctic Nimrod Expedition for the South Pole

The Hawker Nimrod was a British carrier-based fighter aircraft built between WW1 and WW2.

Nimrod is a robotic supervillain, an enemy of Marvel Comics’ X-Men.

The Nimrod Fortress or Nimrod's Fortress is an ancient fortress situated in the northern Golan Heights

I still would not want to be referred to as "Nimrod" lol /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif
