The stamped strip of aluminum like material in the cheapo-repro junk just opens up the first time you install it and then the slightest bump knocks it loose. The poor choice of metal for the built-in clip stip with this trim makes it useless. Aluminum is NOT spring-steel. Check out a chunk of original trim and notice the rusty but still grippy STEEL core.
Naturally, Bugsy's is the "red", so I'm stuck for now, but AH Spares, East Sussex Motors, Charles Ware Minor Center and others are on the web and willing to ship. Bargains can be found even with the brutal shipping cost.

Keep posting outcomes on this topic here. I'de be interested to see if someone actually gets some stuff that is of good quality and from where.
 
I'm thinking about Franks trick and glue it on with construction adhesive. A dot every inch should do the trick I should think.
 
The clips that are on their way to Jack have barbs on them. Wouldn't that hold the trim on?
 
Have no clue how they are attached to the trim. This is a test. Will let all know.
 
I think I understand the principal but with the alum, read soft, inside on the felt door seals I have I am just not sure how well it will work.

I keep running this stupid query and getting the same wrong results, it is bugging the ____ out of me. Getting up extra early to hovel snow must have killed me.

I guess that it is time for lunch (a fish sandwich) and a lil regrouping.
